Who We Are
About Sensate Therapy
Sensate Therapy offers thoughtful, trauma-informed support for individuals and couples navigating difficulties with intimacy, relationships, sexuality, and emotional connection. We understand that many struggles in these areas are shaped by lived experience, attachment history, and the nervous system and we work with care, sensitivity, and respect for each person’s pace.
Our practice is grounded in the belief that therapy should feel safe, collaborative, and empowering. Whether you are seeking support as an individual or as a couple, we aim to create a space where complexity is welcomed, shame is reduced, and meaningful change becomes possible.
Our Approach
Sensate Therapy takes a trauma-informed and relational approach, recognising that difficulties with sex, intimacy, and connection are often adaptive responses to earlier experiences rather than individual “failings.” We work carefully with the nervous system, prioritising safety, consent, and choice throughout the therapeutic process.
We support clients with:
Relationship and intimacy difficulties
Sexual concerns and sexual pain
Trauma and its impact on connection and desire
Anxiety, shame, and negative self-beliefs
Communication and emotional closeness
Sessions are collaborative and paced, allowing space for reflection, learning, and practical tools that can be taken into everyday life. Where appropriate, therapy may include psychoeducation, body-based awareness, relational work, and evidence-based interventions tailored to your needs.
A Safe and Ethical Space
We are committed to offering therapy that is:
Confidential and private
Inclusive and respectful of diversity
Non-judgemental and shame-reducing
Ethically informed and professionally accountable
Sensate Therapy is a place where difficulties can be explored with curiosity and care, and where clients are supported to reconnect with themselves, with others, and with what matters most to them.
Founder
About Jodie
I offer a warm, empathetic, and non-judgemental therapeutic space for individuals and couples seeking support with emotional, relational, and sexual concerns. I understand that reaching out for help can feel daunting, and my aim is to provide a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported at your own pace.
I hold a Distinction in an MSc in Psychosexual Therapy and have undertaken further postgraduate training in relationship-based and trauma-informed therapies, including EMDR. With over 17 years of clinical experience, I have supported individuals and couples in navigating relationship difficulties, sexual concerns, and the impact of trauma on intimacy, self-esteem, and connection.
My work is informed by up-to-date psychological theory and research across trauma, attachment, behavioural science, and sexology. I have trained with internationally recognised institutions including The Tavistock Centre and The Relate Institute, and I have contributed to mainstream media articles and professional blogs as an industry expert.
I have particular expertise in working with sexual trauma, PTSD, childhood sexual abuse, and domestic violence. I am also highly experienced in supporting women affected by sexual pain conditions such as vaginismus and dyspareunia, and have helped hundreds of women move towards greater comfort, confidence, and reconnection with their bodies.
I work collaboratively with individuals and couples to deepen understanding of the patterns and experiences that have shaped emphasising safety, compassion, and choice. Where appropriate, I use EMDR therapy to help process distressing or overwhelming memories and life events, supporting clients to move from negative or self-critical beliefs towards a more grounded and empowered sense of self.
My approach is thoughtful, trauma-informed, and tailored to your unique experiences, with a strong emphasis on safety, nervous-system regulation, and rebuilding trust both within yourself and in your relationships.
